Aging a Domain Name
Posted on August 29th, 2010
There exists a debate among webmasters regarding whether the age of a domain matters in regards to how well that site will rank in the search engines. While the publicly available information is not currently sufficient to answer this debate, there are some indications regarding whether a domain’s age matters.
For background, the internet is operated on a complicated domain name server system. What this means is that for each website address, a system of linked computers keeps a record of who owned that website, what was on the site at different times, and how many times that address has been transferred.
Given this, it is worth noting that Google and other search engines know how long your domain name has continuously been registered with a domain registrar (the groups that sell sites to potential webmasters). But the debate in question is if domain age actually matters in terms of getting traffic to ones website.
For reference, Google’s Matt Cutts, who is Google’s voice to webmasters, released a video on the topic of domain name age. The trouble is that he equivocated. He indicated that it was something they filed a patent for, but never stated whether or not domain name was considered an important factor in getting ranked higher in Google’s results. Thus, the glut of information regarding domain name age continues to exist.
To speak from personal experience, I have found that domain name age can be a tremendous benefit when trying to get natural search engine hits. It makes your SEO work a ton easier. For example, I had a website sitting stagnant on a server for nearly two years. I put up content on the site. Within two weeks, I was getting dozens of visitors from Google daily. Using the same tools and techniques, I did the same on a website that had been registered only a few weeks earlier. It was nearly six months and after building hundreds of back links that I received any traffic from the search engines.
While my single case study cannot demonstrate with certainty whether domain name matters, it is a commonly held wisdom that a domain that simply has existed for a long time will be more likely to rank in Google and other search engines.
For this reason, I, along with any number of other webmasters, have worked to buy domain names and let them age for you. By coming to domain brewer, you can browse over 500 listings and see what appeals to you. You may even find a site name that you like better than what you were thinking of. No one can ever guarantee that an aged domain will rank more quickly, but I consider it a valuable tool to add to your quiver when attempting SEO and trying to rank a new website in the search engines.

Losing It, and Gaining My Life Back One Pound at a Time [With Earbuds] (Playaway Adult Nonfiction)

Valerie comes across very honest regarding her self-esteem issues and her marriage. Seeing Ed Van Halen through her eyes reminded me of Constanze Mozart in the 1984 movie “Amadeus” who’s love and constant pleading could not stop her gifted husband from destroying himself. Why is it that musical geniuses are so self destructive? Valerie comes to grips with the fact that Ed is the only one who can help Ed with his addictive personality, while she finally overcomes her own demons. People tend to put gifted musicians and actors upon pedistals so they can worship them. Pleasantly, the reader finds that Ed and Valerie are as human as the rest of us. This book is a page turner. I enjoyed the chapter titles that were plays on-or actually titles of- Van Halen compositions. You don’t have to be a fan of Van Halen or Valerie Bertinelli to enjoy this book. In fact, you may become a fan of Valerie’s after reading this book!

Losing It, and Gaining My Life Back One Pound at a Time [With Earbuds] (Playaway Adult Nonfiction) Overview
America’s Sweetheart turned working mother gives a frank and inspiring account of her life backstage and in the spotlight.
We all knew and loved Valerie Bertinelli years ago when she played the girl-next-door cutie, Barbara Cooper, in the hit TV show One Day at a Time. From wholesome primetime in America’s living rooms, Valerie moved to late nights with the hardest partying band of the decadent 80s when she married rock guitarist Eddie Van Halen at the age of 20. Here are the ups and downs of teen stardom, of her complicated marriage, and of her very public struggle with weight.
Surprising, uplifting, and empowering, Losing It takes you behind the scenes in Valerie’s acting career and marriage. Despite Valerie’s celebrity, her voice is so down-to-earth, honest, and appealing that you’ll feel as if you’re talking with a girlfriend over coffee. Funny and candid, Valerie recounts her attempts to maintain a healthy self-image while dealing with social pressures to look and act a certain way, and to overcome career insecurities and relationship problems familiar to the millions of women who struggle every day with these same issues.
From marital turmoil to the joys of a new career, from being named among Penthouse’s ten sexiest women in the world to overhearing whispers about her weight gain in the grocery store, this is Valerie’s inspiring journey as she finds new love, raises a terrific kid, and motivates other women as a spokesperson for Jenny Craig.

A Note to Amazon Readers (and a Q&A) from Valerie Bertinelli
Dear Amazon Customer, Glad to see you here and hopefully purchasing my book. I’ve heard if you buy multiple copies it’s a better experience–a better one for me! But seriously, I’m usually on Amazon, too. I’ve been buying books through the site for ten years. I enjoy reading the reviews. I get a good sense of the book, and I like to hear what other people have to say. Like in a traditional bookstore, I can look at the cover, peek inside the book, and check out the bestseller lists. Valerie- Do you have a favorite character from a book? I love Scout and Atticus from To Kill A Mockingbird.
- If you can be any character from a book, who would you like to be? I would like to be Scarlett and I would let Rhett know how much I love him.
- How do you decide what next book you want to read? If it’s for my book group, whoever hosts the next gathering picks the book, so it’s picked for me seven out of eight times. But on my own, I read reviews and ask people whose taste I like what they’re reading.
- Where’s your favorite place to read? Either lying in bed or on the sofa next to the fireplace.
- What is your favorite genre? I don’t really have one.
